BANGOR (AP) — University of Maine System trustees are meeting to consider converting one of the seven campuses to natural gas as well as moving some classes to the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.
Trustees are reviewing a proposal Monday to move the University College Bath/Brunswick to Brunswick Landing, site of the former Navy base. Southern Maine Community College already has a campus there. Trustees also are considering an agreement to bring natural gas to the University of Maine at Farmington.
They are also honoring former Trustee Charles O’Leary, who passed away on Jan. 3.
Monday’s meeting is being held at the University of Maine System headquarters in Bangor. Trustees are responsible for seven campuses, some with multiple locations, along with eight outreach centers and 31 course sites.
