LEWISTON — The Lewiston High School girls’ home playoff hockey game won’t be so homey, after all.

The No. 2 Blue Devils were to host No. 3 Greely on Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in the Eastern Maine semifinals, but a compressor malfunction due to an electrical problem at the Colisee forced the venue to nix that game, and all other on-ice activities, through at least Monday.

“It happened a couple of days ago, and we covered the ice and were hoping to save it,” Jim Cain, president of Colisee-owning Firland Management, said. “We couldn’t get the part we needed until Friday.”

Colisee staff spent Thursday removing what was left of its ice sheet.

The game has been moved across the river, to the recently-opened Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

“We played all year to get home ice advantage and now we’re playing away,” Lewiston girls’ coach Ron Dumont said. “But, it is what it is.”

In addition to the girls’ playoff game Friday, the Portland Junior Pirates’ entry in the United States Premier Hockey League was set to play a regular-season game against the Connecticut Yankees at 5 p.m. That game will instead be played in Saco.

Saturday’s Mixed Martial Arts event, NEF’s Fight Night XII, will go on as scheduled, with doors opening at 6 p.m. for a 7 p.m. fight.

Lewiston’s boys’ hockey contest against Lawrence/Skowhegan, previously slated for Wednesday and postponed until Monday at 8:20, will have to be moved again.
