- “Men are on the ball this year,” said Stephanie Bernatchez as she made Valentine’s Day chocolates at Maine Gourmet Chocolates in Auburn on Tuesday. Bernatchez said men usually wait until the last minute to buy Valentine’s Day sweets at her shop, but not this year. She said Valentine’s Day is her third-biggest time of year for sales behind Christmas and Easter. Bernatchez opened her store in Lewiston in 2010 before moving the business to Auburn this past August.
