RUMFORD — The Black Mountain Ski Resort is putting the finishing touches on the schedule for its sixth annual Winterfest Weekend, according to marketing director Paige Carter.
It is planned for Friday, Feb. 28 to Sunday, March 2.
Some of the events include horse-drawn sleigh rides, a lasagna dinner and the Never Ever Race, which was a popular event for children last year, Carter said.
“The Never Ever Race is for kids 10 and under,” she said. “It’s a little race in the Novice area that they can participate in. At the end, everyone gets a little prize. We figured it’d be something nice for the kids and their families to do.”
Black Mountain will also be doing lift rides for those who don’t ski but still want to catch a glimpse of the view at the top.
“Snowmobilers and snowshoers are also welcome to visit,” Carter said.
“We might have more of an idea of what will be on the schedule next week,” Carter said. “It’s almost complete. However, we do know that we’ll be doing all of the popular things we had last year. We’re trying to figure out a couple new things to do to spice things up a little bit, but we won’t really know until next week what we’re doing for sure.”
Carter said the resort’s Family Fun Weekend, which typically takes place during the last weekend that Black Mountain is open, will be scheduled for March 22.
“We haven’t set an official closing date for Black Mountain yet, but we needed to set a date for the weekend nonetheless,” Carter said. “We were thinking March 22 or 23 would be our best bet for the Family Fun Weekend.”
