BATH — Mountain Valley took second in the Class B state championship Saturday at Morse High School.

 The Falcons finished the meet with 113 points, not far behind the champions from Camden Hills with 124.

Ellsworth was third with 89.5 while Foxcroft (89.5) and  (79) rounded out the top five.  Oak Hill finished 15th with 22.5.

The Falcons winners included Ethan Boucher and Jacob Thornton.

Boucher won in the 120-pound class. He beat Wells’ Isaac Desrochers, 4-0. Thornton won at 126. He beat MCI’s Dylan Dahlbergh, 10-3.

Mountain Valley’s Caleb Austin, Brandon Gill, Dakota Jacques and Cyril Miller each reached the finals but lost. Auston lost at 113. Peter Del Gallo of Gardiner won the match 7-0. at 132, Gill lost to Ellsworth’s Dagan Berenyi, 12-4. Jacques lost at 145 to York’s Josh Smith, 4-2. Miller was beaten by Ellsworth’s Joe Wright at 170 by a score of 8-2.

In the consolation round, Zach Cross won his match for the Vikings. He beat Foxcroft’s Brandon Brock.

In the Class A meet at Noble High School,  Mt. Blue had a top-10 finish.

Marswhood won with 179 points. Massabessic was second with 127 followed by Skowhegan at 117.5. Noble (84.5) and Cony (59) were also in the top five. Mt. Blue finished 10th with 31 points. Oxford Hills finished with 30 points and finished 12th. Edward Little had 18 points and landed 14th.

Edward Little’s Sheldon Bang won  the championship in the 132-pound class. He beat Skowhegan’s Julian Sirois, 7-3.

Oxford Hills had Malik Geiger reach the championship round, but he lost at 170. Bonny Eagle’s Robert Martin won that match 3-2 in three overtime sessions.

In the consolation round, Mt. Blue’s Will Gunter won at 285. He beat Bonny Eagle’s Isaiah Reynolds, 7-2.  The Cougars had three other wrestlers reach the consolation finals but lost.

 Nick Hickey at 160 lost to Greg Caselia of Portland, 8-6. At 195, Tyler Sennick was beaten by Nokomis’ Christopher Wilson, 5-0. J. T. Williams was pinned at 3:42 at 220 by Massabecic’s Tanner Andrews.

Oxford Hills’ Jon Hankey reached the consolation final in the 126-pound class but lost to Noble’s Joshua Grenier, 8-4.
