GRAY — A New Gloucester man was charged Monday with driving to endanger and leaving the scene of an accident after his car and another collided on Route 100 on Sunday evening, injuring four people.
Jeffrey Casey, 34, contacted the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department on Monday and was issued a summons, Sgt. David Hall said.
Casey was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala on Mayall Road around 5:45 p.m. and turned onto Route 100 into the path of Joshua Robbinson, 32, of New Gloucester driving a 2007 Hyundai SUV, Hall said.
Robbinson attempted to avoid the collision but could not, he said.
Casey’s car left the roadway and struck a utility pole, and Casey fled on foot, the officer said. A police tracking dog found him later.
Robbinson, his wife and two young children were taken to a hospital with neck and back injuries that were not considered life-threatening, he said. The children were secured in safety seats.
The Impala was demolished and the Hyundai had substantial damage, Hall said.
