RUMFORD — The Rumford Public Library will be hosting a free yoga class from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 6, according to librarian Luke Sorenson.

Sorenson said Tuesday afternoon that the library was approached by resident Kristen TenDyke, a registered yoga teacher and Reiki master, about holding a monthly yoga class at the library.

“We thought it was a good way to get some more people to the library, and to also learn things through exercise,” Sorenson said.

According to a news release, the class is “designed for all levels of yoga experience,” and is “moderately paced, flowing through movements and allowing space to breathe steadily as you move.”

TenDyke recommended that people bring their own yoga mats, blocks and straps if they have them, adding that mats, blocks and straps will be provided for those who do not have them.

She also recommended that those who wish to participate arrive 10 to 15 minutes early in order to set up their mats.

Sorenson said that if the March 6 yoga class goes well, the library would consider holding a monthly yoga class for those interested.

The release stated that TenDyke has been practicing Vinyasa, or flow, yoga since 2008 and completed her 200 Yoga Alliance teaching certification from Jacqui Bonwell’s Sacred Seeds Yoga School in Boston.
