DIXFIELD — Firefighters from six towns responded to a fire that engulfed the top floor of a hair salon business on Weld Street on Friday afternoon.
No one was injured.
The building at 41 Weld St. is owned by Charlotte and Daniel Louvat. Charlotte Louvat runs her hair and tanning salon named The Cutter’s House out of the building.
Louvat reported the fire at 1:45 p.m. Andover, Dixfield, East Dixfield, Mexico, Peru and Rumford fire departments responded and within an hour, the entire top floor was engulfed in flames. The fire spread to a neighboring building but it was quickly knocked down.
Central Maine Power was cut power to the building.
Further information on the fire and its cause was not available from officials Friday night.
