I don’t get outside much so I watch a lot of television, quite often of outside sports — such as skiing and skating — when it is usually cold. I have seen some of the officials and reporters, out in the cold, wearing warm winter jackets, but some are bare-headed.
I have been told by several people who know what they are talking about that a large percentage of body heat is lost through a person’s head, and if a person were lost in the woods for any length of time, even with warm clothes on, a person with a hat on would stand a much better chance of surviving than a person without a hat.
