AUGUSTA — The potential for Maine rivers to flood and cause damage this spring will be assessed at the annual meeting of the River Flow Advisory Commission.

The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Maine Emergency Management Agency building in Augusta.

The commission is composed of state, federal and industry representatives who will review information such as snowpack and river ice that contribute to river flooding in the spring.

Reservoir levels and the rate of water flow in streams are also considered factors.

The commission will also review its protocol and procedures during the meeting, which is scheduled to end at 11:30 a.m.
