Several towns’ fire departments sent units to battle the blaze on Fish Street at Varney’s Labs, a business that sells Labrador retrievers.

The business owner said most of the dogs were able to flee, but four or five 5-month-old dogs probably didn’t make it out of the barn, which housed a complex of kennels.

At least 10 firetrucks were on the scene late Monday.
