WOODSTOCK — Residents at the annual town meeting Monday will decide what to do with the old Union Church in South Woodstock.

Voters will be asked whether to raise and appropriate up to $4,500 to make repairs to the church’s granite foundation.

“We will present cost figures on the necessary foundation work, and ask you to vote on whether to proceed with this or to consider selling the property,” selectmen Chairman Rick Young said in the Annual Town Report.

The proposed budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year is $2,585,062, an increase of $159,788 from last year.

Voters will be asked whether to give a 2 percent discount on property taxes paid in full within 30 days of tax committal, and whether to charge 7 percent interest on unpaid taxes after Dec. 1, 2014. They will also decide whether taxes will be due by that date.

An increase in the annual stipend for selectmen — from $1,700 to $2,000 — is also on the warrant. Young said the stipend has not changed in the past 10 years.

Selectman Stephen Bies is running unopposed for another three-year term.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. March 24 at the Woodstock Elementary School.
