BETHEL — A University of Maine at Farmington professor will speak about long-term climate variability and its effect on Maine ecosystems at next month’s 2014 Changing Nature Series.

The presentation by George Jacobson, professor emeritus of biology, ecology and climate change, will be hosted by the Mahoosuc Land Trust at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Gould Academy’s McLaughlin Auditorium on Church Street in Bethel.

Jacobson’s presentation is titled, “Climate Variability and Maine Ecosystems —  Past and Future.”

Trust spokeswoman Jolan Ippolito said Tuesday in a news release that Jacobson will give an overview of long-term climate variability and its effects on Maine’s land and forest. Additionally, he will provide a perspective on what is happening currently and project that into the next few centuries, she said.
