- “This has always been a good after-work spot early in the season,” says Jeff Galarneau of Auburn as he fishes in Lake Auburn. He and his friend, Kenny Stevens of Greene, seated on the far bank, enjoyed the first official day of open-water fishing Tuesday. “I’ve fished here for years and caught lake trout and salmon,” Galarneau said. Nothing was biting in their first hour, though.
