RUMFORD — Selectmen on Thursday will consider three requests from Envision Rumford for its second annual Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Festival next month.
The board will meet at 7 p.m. April 3 at Rumford Falls Auditorium.
According to the agenda, the local economic development group will ask for:
* $500 to broadcast the festival on the radio.
* Approval to hold a Paul Bunyan Lumberjack parade.
* Permission to close town streets for the festival.
According to a letter from lawyer Jennifer Kreckel of Envision Rumford, the festival will be held May 10.
The parade would start at the old Puiia building on Prospect Avenue, travel south on Bridge Street, turn left on Franklin Street and follow that to Rumford Avenue. It will cross Memorial Bridge over the Androscoggin River, turn right onto Congress Street and follow that to Route 108, turn right on River Street and continue to Exchange Street, Kreckel said.
Among the other agenda items are a discussion on tax-acquired properties, approvals sought to hire a police officer and a liquor license for Brian’s Bistro.
Two back-to-back executive sessions are scheduled to consult with legal counsel. Town Manager John Madigan did not provide details on these when asked Wednesday morning.
