FARMINGTON — Police said a Phillips man was charged Wednesday with breaking into a garage on East Madrid Road in Madrid Township in January.

Franklin County Cpl. Nate Reid and Lt. David St. Laurent arrested Aaron J. Barker, 32, on a felony charge of burglary, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said Thursday. The arrest comes after a two-month investigation, he said.

Evidence obtained at the scene by Reid eventually led to the arrest, Nichols said.

Barker is being held at Franklin County jail awaiting a Friday court appearance, he said.

Reid responded to a report of a garage burglary in January when two ATVs were taken and ridden around the property, Nichols said previously. A hose was cut, fuel was siphoned and a tire was flattened on one ATV, and a winch was destroyed on the other, he said.

Barker was also arrested Wednesday on two warrants on unrelated charges. One was for a probation revocation and the other for unpaid fines and fees. He is being held without bail on the probation revocation, $550 cash bail on the unpaid fines and fees, and $200 cash bail on the burglary charge, a corrections officer said.
