Yoga program at Rumford Library

RUMFORD — Tisha Bremner will present a yoga program at Rumford Public Library for Storytime at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9.

Storybook Yoga will encourage creativity, joyful play and enlighten young minds with the magic of fun yoga postures and movements while recounting some of the world’s most delightful stories in a way that enhances literacy and vibrant physical health.

The children will laugh, dance, sing and have fun while discovering stories from around the world that illustrate the importance of love, generosity, peace and friendship.

The program is for pre­-K through third grade. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate.

Homemakers meet April 10

FARMINGTON — The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers will meet on Thursday, April 10, for three different events. They will be starting at The Everyone’s Resource Depot in the UMF Education Building at 5 p.m. where the director, Mary Ryan, will take the group on a tour of the facility.

At 6, the group will travel to the Chesterville Town Office, where they will enjoy a potluck supper. After eating, the meeting will begin at 7 with Marilyn presenting the topic of Italy.

Retired FBI agent to speak at library

BRYANT POND — Jack Richardson of Paris, a retired special agent with the FBI, will be the guest speaker at the Whitman Memorial Library at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10.

Richardson will talk about his time with the FBI and will also speak of some current programs. The program is open to the public at no charge and light refreshments will be served.

If there is no school in SAD 44, the program will be postponed.

Quilters group meets April 10

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. All area quilters invited.

See a demonstration on how to transform a shirt into a pillow, and also the Disappearing Pinwheel square.

Community potluck supper April 10

WATERFORD — The Wilkins Community House will hold a community potluck supper at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 10. The supper is usually held on the third Thursday , so note the change.

The hosts for this supper will be the Murphys and the Holmstocks.

The Community House is in Waterford Flat on Plummer Hill Road behind the village green next door to the church. Everyone is welcome. Bring a friend and a dish to share.

The supper in May will return to the third Thursday and will be the last of the season.

Chesterville Grange ‘souper’ supper

AARP chapter meets April 14

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, April 14, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street.

Lunch will be served at noon and a chicken dinner is on the menu. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by Friday, April 11.

The business meeting will begin at 12:45. Members are reminded to bring small items for shut-ins bags as well as continuing support of the Food Pantry. The book/puzzle swap is also continuing.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

DIXFIELD — Dirigo High School Class of 2016 will hold a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny pancake breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12.

Admission is $4. Tickets available at the door. There will be crafts, photo opportunity for $1 and Easter basket raffles for $1 per ticket.

Free community luncheon planned

FARMINGTON — A spaghetti dinner to benefit the Franklin County Animal Shelter will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Old South Church.

Men will be spaghetti, meatballs, garlic bread, salad and dessert. Cost is $6 adults, $4 kids.

Winter Farmers Market closing

FARMINGTON — The Winter Farmers Market will end its season a little early this year. The last market day will be Saturday, April 12. Customers are urged to stock up or do special orders with individual vendors during the break from April 12 to the first Saturday in May, when the outdoor markets will start up at the Fiddlehead Festival.

The Winter Farmers Market has been meeting at the Farmington Grange in West Farmington every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon since November. The farmers market vendors move inside when the outside markets close for the winter.

Methodist Church public supper

FARMINGTON — Trinity United Methodist Church will hold a public supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 12.

The baked beans and casserole supper will include vegetarian, gluten-free and sugar-free items.

Easter egg hunt for Harrison children

HARRISON — The Easter bunny has hidden eggs all over Crystal Lake Park. All Harrison girls and boys ages 1-9 are welcome to come to the park and find the eggs on Saturday, April 12, beginning promptly at 10 a.m.

Parents are asked to arrive no later than 9:45 a.m. and park behind Crystal Lake Park on Mill Street. Children will be grouped according to age and will hunt in a designated areas.

This special spring event will take place despite inclement weather, so dress accordingly. Bring a camera and have your child’s picture taken with the Easter Bunny. An Easter basket will be given away to one lucky girl and boy.

OTISFIELD — The first supper of the season will be held at East Otisfield Free Baptist Church on Saturday, April 12. Seatings will be at 5 and 6 p.m.

Fire Auxiliary public supper

PARIS — Paris Fire Department Auxiliary will hold a public supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Paris Fire Department, Western Avenue.

The meal will feature roast pork, potatoes, veggies, macaroni and cheese, salads, rolls and pies for dessert. Adults, $8; ages 4-12, $4; under age 3, free.

Center to offer Finnish classes

WEST PARIS — Finnish language classes will resume on Saturday, April 12, at the Finnish American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.

Beginners and intermediate level classes will be offered on April 12, April 26, May 10 and May 24.

The beginners class will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The advanced classes will be from 1 to 3 p.m.

Marja Leena Bailey will be the instructor. Her method of teaching makes it productive, interesting and fun.

Bob Marley coming to Leavitt

TURNER —  LAHS Project Grad 2014 has announced a benefit performance by comedian Bob Marley. The show will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 13, in the auditorium of Leavitt Area High School. Open seating will begin at 6 p.m.

Reich Museum to hold Sky Program

RANGELEY — The Wilhelm Reich Museum will host “Sky Program” on Monday, April 14, at dusk at its Conference Center on Dodge Pond Road.

Participants will view planets, stars and the moon using telescopes and binoculars as well as picking out constellations with the naked eye. Dress warm. Bring binoculars, lawn chairs or a blanket. The program will be held only if the sky is clear.

The program has been created for all ages as part of the museum’s Natural Science Program and is free of charge. Thanks to a grant from Sugarloaf Charitable Trust, the museum now has solar filters for daytime programs of viewing the sun and camera mounts for taking pictures of the sky both day and night.

Hartford-Sumner kindergarten

SUMNER — Hartford-Sumner Elementary School, serving the towns of Hartford, Sumner and Buckfield, will hold kindergarten registration and screening for the 2014 kindergarten class from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 17 and 18.

All children who register must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15.
