PORTLAND (AP) — Police say they have reopened a section of a downtown street in Maine’s largest city after closing it for several hours to investigate a suspicious device in connection to a robbery.

The police said Friday that the closed area on Congress Street in Portland between Brown and Casco Streets is now open. The area was closed to auto and foot traffic after police say they found a suspicious device in a trash can they believe is connected to a robbery at a downtown CVS.

Portland police say one man is being held in custody in connection with the Friday robbery.
