FARMINGTON — A Franklin County grand jury on Tuesday indicted a Maryland man who returned to Maine in February to face a felony charge of sexual abuse of a minor.
Michael Massey, 32, of Hyattsville, Md., turned himself in on the charge that stemmed from a camping trip in Weld in 2012. He was booked at the Franklin County Detention center after his court appearance.
Massey was also indicted on a misdemeanor charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
In July of 2012, Massey was part of a group camping in Weld where alcohol was consumed. A girl, who was 14 or 15 years old, awoke in the night to find Massey attempting a sex act with her, according to court records.
Bail was set in February at $1,000 cash with conditions of no contact with the victim and no unsupervised contact with anyone under age 16, except for his newborn baby.
