MEXICO — The Planning Board will discuss possible adjustments to the Animal Control Ordinance at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Town Office.
Planning Board member Reggie Arsenault said the town recently received complaints from residents about dog owners walking their dogs and not picking up waste.
“Our plan right now is to take a look at our Animal Control Ordinance and have a discussion about it,” Arsenault said. “We may need to see what changes need to be made to the ordinance.”
Arsenault said the state has regulations about how towns handle animal control, and the Planning Board needs to investigate them before taking any action.
“We’re not sure if we can or can’t provide warnings or fines to residents for not cleaning up their animal’s waste,” he said. “We’ve got to look at what the state says first and move from there.”
