Key losses: Charlie Martin, Jordan Whitney, Bradley Jackson.

Promising newcomers: Juniors — Amos Herrin (SS),Brad Durrell (OF), Ty Nichols (OF), Anthony Franchetti (DH); Freshman — Brandon Lake (Util).

Season outlook: Injuries and youth caused the Cougars to take some lumps last year, but they could surprise the KVAC in 2014. After his recovery from a knee injury limited his time on the mound in 2013, Abbott is fully healthy and ready to lead what could be a pretty good pitching staff. Andrew Pratt is one of the top catchers in the conference. Ryan Pratt should bolster the offense in the leadoff spot. If they can hit consistently, and survive an April that will probably be spent on the road, the Cougars could be much improved.
