LEWISTON — Local groups and youngsters made the following donations in November and December to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society to help with the care of the thousands of unwanted animals the Humane Society helps each year.
GAHS provides a safe haven for more than 4,200 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area per year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of concerned citizens.

- On Nov. 25, Sean Cloutier, Charlotte Cloutier of Lewiston and Sean Moore of Lisbon donated items gathered for their 10th birthdays. They are fourth-graders.

- On Nov. 26, Emilie Wilson of Gray donated items gathered at her eighth birthday party. She is a second-grade student at James W. Russell Elementary School.

- On Dec. 14, Vanessa St. Pierre celebrated her seventh birthday by donating pet food, supplies and toys. She is a first-grade student at Lisbon Community School. With Vanessa is her sister, Jennifer.

- On Dec. 18, The Barn Yard Crew 4-H Group donated pet food, cat toys and $215. From left, Ashton, Grace, Julianne, Octavia and Trevor.

- Amanda Bellefleur and Melissa Bourgoin, representing Evergreen MGA, made a donation to the shelter on Dec. 20. The company had a drive to collect items for GAHS.

- Sarah Perkins, at fourth-grade student at Turner Elementary School, asked Santa for items to donate to the shelter, which she delivered on Dec. 27.
