HEBRON — Hebron Academy Head of School John King and Hebron Cum Laude Chapter secretary John Curtis have announced the 2014 Cum Laude Society inductees. The Cum Laude Society recognizes academic achievement in secondary schools for the purpose of promoting excellence, justice and honor, according to its mission statement.
Hebron Academy’s chapter was chartered in 1927 and is one of only five participating Maine secondary schools. Each chapter may elect as student members not more than 20 percent of the graduating class who have demonstrated academic excellence in the college preparatory curriculum, choosing up to 10 percent of the allotted number at the end of students’ junior year or early in the senior year, and the remainder near the end of the senior year. Elected students are honored in a special spring ceremony and dinner held yearly in May.
