BETHEL — The Maine Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at the Town Office to discuss plans to repair the Androscoggin Bridge on Route 2.

Project manager Joel Kittredge said the deck is in “very poor condition” and will be replaced.

“We’ll also be looking at the steel to see if it needs to be completely replaced, or if we just need to apply a layer of paint over it,” he said. “The project will be one of rehabilitation.”

Kittredge said the hearing will give the people a chance to discuss their concerns about the project.

“They may have questions about what sorts of detours will exist while we work on the project, or other ways traffic will be affected,” he said. “They may ask about how long a project like this will take. We’ll be speaking about things in general terms at the meeting. We’re just there to answer any questions that people may have.”
