SABATTUS — Kathy Long of Sabattus has completed her residency in St. Kitts, West Indies, earning her Bachelors of Science degree in podology with the North American School of Podology of Toronto, Canada.
Educators Katharin Von Gavel, founder of NASP; Dr. Joachim Aust of Germany; Cindy Harvey, a pedorothist of Canada; and other educators were joined by 32 podologists from the United States and Canada to help bring awareness and educate the people of St. Kitts of the importance of healthy foot care, especially those with diabetes.
The podologists were able to provide professional foot care for 874 Kittians who had a variety of foot problems.
Upon receiving degree, studies have included intensive theoretical and practical foot care, infection control, comprehensive foot and leg evaluation, skin and nail pathology, diabetic foot syndrome, case studies and residency.
Long is a licensed aesthetician, certified reflexologist, certified master pedicurist, BSC-Pod, a member of the Maine Council of Reflexology and the International Pedicure Association and continues to participate in educational seminars, training and advanced classes.
