DIXFIELD — Karl and Kathy Knight of Dixfield are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Holly Marie Knight, to Owen Zachery McCarthy, son of Martin and Rachel McCarthy of Patten.

Miss Knight is a 2006 graduate of Dirigo High School and attended the University of Maine, receiving her bachelor’s degree in biology in 2010. She will graduate from the New England College of Optometry on May 18 and will begin an ocular disease residency program at the Jamaica Plain Veterans Affairs hospital in Boston.

Mr. McCarthy is a 2006 graduate of Katahdin High School. He also graduated from the University of Maine in 2010, receiving his bachelor’s degree in biological engineering. Currently, he is attending Harvard Business School in the master’s degree program.

The wedding will be on Aug. 16 in Bangor.
