ORONO — Police are searching for a man who robbed an Orono, Maine, savings bank of an undisclosed amount of money.
WZON-AM reports the man demanded money from the Bangor Savings Bank on Park Street just after 9 a.m. on Friday. He did not display a weapon during the robbery. The man left on foot for a nearby wooded area just after committing the crime. The station reported the bank declined to say how much money the man stole.
The Maine State Police, Orono police, University of Maine campus police and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents are investigating the robbery. The bank closed after the incident and remained closed in the late morning on Friday.
The bank is located near an entrance to the University of Maine campus.
