PORTLAND (AP) — A Maine government survey says the average price of heating oil in the state has dropped 2 cents in the past week, to $3.60 per gallon.
The Governor’s Energy Office said Wednesday the average statewide price for a gallon of heating oil ranged from $3.35 to $3.90. It also found the average price of kerosene dropped one cent to $4.08 per gallon. The average propane price is now $3.14, a drop of 5 cents per gallon.
The average heating oil price was highest in northern Maine at $3.70 per gallon. Kerosene and propane were also most expensive in the northern part of the state.
The Energy Office issued a statement reminding residents that they can save money on heating costs next winter by installing an energy efficient boiler or furnace.
