Somali storyteller, poet to speak
LEWISTON — “One City, Many Stories” at 7 p.m. Friday, May 2, will feature Somali storyteller and poet Farah Mohamed, in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library.
The free event is a family-friendly performance of stories and poetry in Somali and English.

Spaghetti supper benefits trip
POLAND — A benefit spaghetti supper will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Poland Community Church Food Bank, Poland Community Church Parish House, 1212 Maine St., Route 26.
The cost is $5; kids under 3 eat free.
All proceeds will benefit a Food Bank volunteer so she can see her daughter compete June 14-21 in National Track & Field events at Princeton University.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on April 22 were as follows: first, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; second, Dick Allen and Paul Clement.

GREENE — The annual meeting of the Valley Cemetery Association will be held Monday, May 5, at the home of John Fogg.

Free bra fittings at Dempsey Center
AUBURN — Transitions at Bedard has paired with the Patrick Dempsey Center for Hope & Healing to offer free bra fittings. The first Wednesday of each month, mastectomy fitter Anne Ajayi from Transitions will be available from 10 a.m. to noon at the Dempsey Center to do the fittings, beginning Wednesday, May 7.
Breast prosthesis fittings can also be done during the fitting appointment.

Civil War Round Table Lecture
BRUNSWICK — Joshua L. Chamberlain Civil War Round Table Lecture will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Curtis Memorial Library – Morrell Room, 23 Pleasant St.
Jim Hessler will speak on “Sickles at Gettysburg.” Lectures are free and open to the public.
Sampson AFB veterans to meet
LEWISTON — The Thursday, May 8, meeting of Sampson Air Force Base veterans will be held at noon at Marco’s Restaurant, on outer Main Street. Southern Maine Sampson Air Force Base veterans and guests are invited to meet.
This is an informal get-together. Any Korean vet is welcome.
Sampson was known as Sampson Naval Training Center from 1942-1945, then Sampson Air Force Training Base from 1950-1956. All are welcome to attend and express their adventures.
