- April 15 marked the end of an era at Community Credit Union as Hugh Keene, who has been a dedicated credit union board member for 47 years, oversaw his last annual meeting and board meeting. In 1994, the Municipal Employees of Auburn Federal Credit Union merged with Community Credit Union, where Keene was the board chairman. He remained on the board and for the next 20 years, he led Community Credit Union through a changing economic landscape. Kerry Wood, CEO of Community Credit Union, presents Keene with a plaque. Community Credit Union has been serving its members and Androscoggin County since 1945 and has branches at 144 Pine St., Lewiston, and 40 Stanley St., Auburn. In 2014, a new branch will open on Route 4 in Turner.
