TURNER — “Music for Mavis” will open the 2014 summer of” Tuesdays at the Gazebo at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, with Hurry Down Sunshine, an acoustic duo from Wayne. The duo will play classics, folk, oldies, and Simon and Garfunkel music.

Groups raising money for the primary school playground and other community needs may sell desserts, and even hamburgers or hot dogs, at these Tuesday night concerts.

Bring a chair, a blanket, and a thermos of hot chocolate.

Scheduled concerts include performers such as Denny Breau; Dr. Becky and Gangs, (Grinners and Pickers) and (The Girl Brothers); Chicks with Sticks; the Ladies Accordion Band; The Hadacol Bouncers; Dixie Land Band from Portland (members of the Bellamy Jazz Band); and Skosh, a local rock and roll group.

Fund raising tickets are being sold to help pay the musicians, and for the trip to Italy. The drawing will be on Friday, July 4, so there is still time to purchase your tickets.

The gazebo is on Rt. 117 across from the Turner Public Library. The Tuesday music evenings happen rain or shine and are held at the church across the street in case of rain.
