BANGOR — Three children who had been reported missing on May 9 have been found safe in Bangor, according to state police.
The boys’ mother, Jackie Morris, 32, is in custody, according to Maine State Police. Morris and the missing children, Dylan, Brandon and Ryan Lewis, were found late Tuesday morning by Bangor police, according to police.
Bangor police received information Tuesday morning that the mother and boys might be traveling to Bangor. Detectives Brian Smith and Larry Morrill, joined by Sgt. Paul Kenison, found Morris and the boys at a hotel on Haskell Road, Bangor police Lt. Paul Edwards said in an afternoon news release.
“The officers took the mother … into custody on an outstanding warrant out of Connecticut related to the case,” Edwards said.
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services took temporary custody of the three boys until their father arrives in Bangor to pick them up and take them home to Connecticut, Edwards said.
An Amber Alert had been issued for three children by Connecticut authorities. Morris has ties to Maine, Connecticut and Massachusetts, state police said.
Morris was believed to have been driving a red 2004 Volkswagen Jetta with Connecticut license plate 876YGJ. Police also believe she is living out of the vehicle.
Dylan and Brandon are 7 years of age and Ryan is 9 years old, according to the alert.
