FARMINGTON — RSU 9 directors recognized 12 of Mt. Blue Campus’ top students during their meeting Tuesday.

Monique Poulin, principal of Mt. Blue High School, and Glenn Kapiloff, director of Foster Career and Technical Education Center, both housed at the campus, congratulated students for their dedication to their studies.

It is a celebration of the top scholars and their achievements during their journey through grades kindergarten through 12, not just their high school years, Poulin said.

She had the top 10 students from the high school introduce themselves and their parents. They also told directors what school they planned to attend after graduation.

Sophia Bunnell of Wilton plans to attend Tufts University in Massachusetts to study biology and be on the premedical track.

Eli Cohen of Farmington is going to the New England Conservatory in Massachusetts and study jazz.

Hanna Deon of Industry, who was working and unable to attend, plans to go to the University of Maine in Orono and study marine biology, her father said.

Noah LePage of New Sharon plans to attend New York University to study film.

Miranda Nicely of Farmington will go to the University of Southern Maine in Portland to study nursing.

Anja Nordstrom of Wilton will attend Smith College and is undecided about what she will study. She jokingly told said she’ll get back to them when she figures it out.

Mallory Parker of Wilton plans to attend Georgia Institute of Technology in Georgia to study mechanical engineering.

Macee Qi of Wilton plans to attend Northeastern University in Massachusetts to study biology or bio-chemistry.

Sarah Wade of Farmington is going to the Michigan Technological Institute to study engineering.

And, Shula Yeaton of Farmington will attend St. Joseph’s College in Maine to study nursing.

Kapiloff also recognized Yeaton as one of three top students at Foster Tech. She was in the certified nursing assistant program for two years and also in student business education, he said.

Emily Knowles of Farmington and Corey Ridley of Jay also were named top students at the center.

Knowles, who studied early childhood, plans to attend Central Maine Community College in Auburn for the medical assistant program.

Ridley has two years in the forestry program and plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono for forest operation. He was named a Top 10 scholar at Spruce Mountain High School in Jay, Kapiloff said.

Sen. Tom Saviello, R-Wilton, presented each student with a legislative sentiment for their achievements.

“The best of luck to all of you,” RSU 9 Chairman Mark Prentiss of Industry said.
