CHILLICOTHE, Ohio —  Aubie Greenleaf of Auburn was inducted into the International Honor Society Chi Sigma Iota Alpha Chapter on March 22 at Ohio University Athens, where she is a graduate student.

She graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn.

She is the daughter of Helena and Jon Woodhead, step-daughter of David Farr, and granddaughter of Mabel Soucy.

EASTON, Mass. — The following local residents were inducted into the national honor society of their field of study at Stonehill College.

Ashley DeBlois of Auburn was inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society.

Emily Dumont of Auburn was inducted into the Kappa Mu Epsilon Honor Society and the Sigma Zeta Honor Society.

LEWISTON — The New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Academic honor is awarded to Bates varsity letter winners who have reached sophomore academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.

Devon Brown, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Brown of Newry, is a member of the men’s alpine skiing team. Brown, who is majoring in mathematics, is 2010 a graduate of Gould Academy.

Allaina Murphy, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Murphy of Poland Spring, is a member of the women’s basketball team. Murphy, who is majoring in politics, is 2011 a graduate of Saint Dominic Academy.

BOSTON — Megan Frey of Jay, a senior majoring in communication disorders at Emerson College, was one of 83 students inducted into the Gold Key Honor Society on April 22.

Gold Key members must have completed 48 credits with the college; juniors are in the top 5 percent of their class, and seniors are in the top 10 percent.

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. — Brooke Dolloff of Dixfield was one of 17 freshmen inducted into Lyndon State College’s Alpha Lambda Delta on April 27.

ALD is a national honor society for students who have maintained an average GPA of 3.5 or higher and are in the top 20 percent of their class during their first year of higher education. 

Dolloff is majoring in design.

WORCESTER, Mass. — Zebb Duffany of Otisfield, a member of Assumption College’s class of 2015, presented his project, “Something of Nothing,” at Assumption’s 20th Undergraduate Symposium on April 14-15.

Duffany worked with Ted McCarty ’15 to explore the concepts of existence and non-existence by focusing on the Platonic conception of forms and scientific reductionism. Their examination of these two extreme positions suggests the existence of a middle possibility; that a thing must be anchored to exist, and that, because of this, nonphysical things must be known in order to exist.

NEW LONDON, N.H. — Samantha Marquis of Mechanic Falls, a member of the Colby-Sawyer College class of 2014 majoring in psychology, completed an internship with Division for Children, Youth, and Families in Claremont.

CASTLETON, Vt. — Castleton student Alexa Fryover of Jay was recently awarded the Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Honor Society Freshman of the Year Award for the 2013-14 academic year.

This award is given annually to a first-year theater major who has proven him/herself both academically and theatrically, displayed a passion for theater, respect for fellow students and professors, and has shown immense dedication to both the department and the shows produced.

NEW LONDON, N.H. — Brittnie Tardif of Auburn graduated as a member of the Colby-Sawyer College Honor Society for Nursing.

She also received the Nursing Baccalaureate Award at the Colby-Sawyer College Annual Scholars and Leaders Award Ceremony on May 9.

Baccalaureate awards are presented to the graduating students in each baccalaureate program who are selected by the faculty for their interest and excellence within the major.

NEW LONDON, N.H. — Jennifer Ricker of Durham graduated from Colby-Sawyer College on May 10 as a member of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. Ricker majored in creative writing.

To be eligible for membership a student must rank in the top 10 percent of the junior or senior class and demonstrate the Alpha Chi values of truth and character.

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Dr. Erin Forbes of Hanover graduated from The Atlantic Veterinary College at the University Of Prince Edward Island on May 10, following the “White Coat Ceremony” the evening before where she was awarded the American Association Of Feline Practitioners Outstanding Senior Student Award. The award is given in recognition of dedication to and excellence in the study of feline medicine and surgery.

Forbes is a daughter of Michael and Maryanne Forbes, also of Hanover. She is an alum of Gould Academy and St. Anselm’s College. She will start her career as an associate veterinarian at Mt. View Animal Hospital in Burlington, Vt., in June.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Peter Miller, son of William Miller and Elizabeth Miller of South Paris, has enrolled for 2014-15 admission at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Miller is in the electrical engineering – BS program in RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering and is a 2014 graduate of Hebron Academy.

CANTON, N.Y. — Taren L. McGray of Turner was inducted into the St. Lawrence University chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society. A member of the Class of 2016 at St. Lawrence, McGray is majoring in neuroscience. She graduated from Leavitt Area High School.
