Library salutes Wayne’s veterans
WAYNE — “Those Who Served – A Salute to Wayne’s Veterans,” will open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 24, at the Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road, hosted by the Cary Memorial Library.
The exhibit, about the men and women of Wayne who have served in the armed forces, includes photographs, information, letters and memorabilia. The exhibit will also be open from noon to 2 p.m. Monday May 26, Memorial Day, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 7.

Adult Ed offering summer classes
PARIS — The Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education Program is offering summer classes. Academic preparation, HiSET Orientation, HiSET Preparation, and HiSET Testing, is available Wednesdays, July 2, to Aug. 20.
Tuition is $30, with a $20 book deposit. Tuition is waived for HiSET and diploma students.
Distance learning classes are also available beginning Monday, June 9, and ending Wednesday, July 30: Algebra for College, Human Biology w/Lab and College Preparation Chemistry w/Lab. Tuition cost for each course is $99, with a $10 lab fee. HiSET and diploma students pay $10 and can earn a credit.
All students must register with Guidance Counselor Katrina Webster by June 5 prior to enrolling. To make an appointment, call 743-8842, option 1.
FD Auxiliary to hold yard, plant sale
SUMNER — The Sumner Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will hold its annual Yard/Plant/Food Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Sumner Fire Department, Route 219.
There will be a door prize and quilt raffle, as well as refreshments for sale.
The Auxiliary is in need of items, except for clothing. For donation information, call Wilda Dunham at 388-2981 and for donation pickup around the L/A area, call Charlotte Blier at 784-8941.
All proceeds are going toward new equipment for the Volunteer Fire Department.
