WATERVILLE (AP) — A Winthrop woman charged with causing a fatal traffic crash in Monmouth in March has pleaded not guilty.

Alyssa Danielle Marcellino was ordered held on $20,000 bail at her arraignment on Wednesday.

The Kennebec Journal (http://bit.ly/1nh38Gg ) reported that the 23-year-old Marcellino is facing eight charges, including causing serious bodily injury while driving with a suspended license. She was arrested Monday in connection with the March 6 head-on crash on U.S. Route 202. Police say Marcellino’s vehicle drifted into the opposite lane.

Police said 69-year-old Joan Fortier was killed, while her sister, 70-year-old Gene Potter, was seriously injured. Potter was driving. They lived in Mount Vernon.

Bail arguments will be held once Marcellino gets a court-appointed attorney.
