MONMOUTH — DFD Russell Medical Center, 11 Academy Road, is hosting its first Community Health Celebration at the Monmouth center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31.

The Community Health Celebration will offer events and activities for the entire family from crafts for children to yoga classes for seniors.

Booths, tents and tables will be set up in the parking lot with healthy snacks, a smoothie stand, gardening craft for children as well representation from local community supported agriculture organizations and community partners such as Healthy Androscoggin and Hannaford Supermarkets.

Morning and afternoon yoga classes for both seniors and children will take place outdoors on the lawn and a bouncy house will be available for kids throughout the event.

Attendees will have the opportunity to win prizes, and all participants will take home a goodie bag from DFD.

Participants will also have the opportunity to meet DFD Monmouth providers and take advantage of free health screens such as blood pressure and BMI (body mass index).

DFD provider Jim White, PhD, LCPC, will lead a morning and afternoon seminar titled “Medicare Intensive Behavioral Therapy for Obesity.” White will provide information and answer questions about the free program for seniors who struggle with obesity.
