NEW SHARON — Police said an Oakland man escaped injury Tuesday when the van he was driving went off Route 27, also known as Mile Hill Road.

Ryan Whittaker, 23, was driving north about 3 p.m. when the 2010 van apparently drifted across the road, went into a ditch and flipped over, Lt. David Rackliffe of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said. The van was registered to DIRECTV.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Dutch Gap Auto.
