KINGFIELD — Police said an Embden man was arrested Sunday evening after he refused to stop for a Franklin County deputy on Route 27.
Deputy Kevin Hartley spotted Joshua Nichols, 38, traveling at a high rate of speed and turned the cruiser around to try to stop him, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr., who is not related, said Wednesday.
Nichols turned into the parking lot of a former veterinary service and Hartley followed him.
Hartley charged Joshua Nichols with refusing to stop for an officer, driving to endanger, operating after suspension, operating under the influence, possession of suspended license and operating an unregistered vehicle, the sheriff said. He was also issued a summons charging failing to keep right and speeding.
Nichols was taken to the Franklin County Jail in Farmington. He posted $500 cash bail on Monday.
