WILTON — Police say a local man was charged with receiving stolen property after a homeowner spotted a generator taken from his home at a pawnshop.

Brandon L. Hall, 21, was arrested Friday after he pawned the generator at a Farmington shop, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said. The homeowner found it there and notified police, Sgt. Chad Abbott said.

Hall received $80 for the machine, which was valued at $800, Abbott said.

The property was burglarized May 5 and the generator and batteries were taken from the garage. Hall pawned the generator May 6, police said.

Police are investigating another burglary at the home May 11, when three pieces of jewelry, two flat-screen televisions and other items were taken, Abbott said. In both incidents, entry was forced, he said. The items have not been located, he said.

The District Attorney’s Office changed the original charges of theft and burglary to felony receiving stolen property, because Hall had possession of the generator, Abbott said.

Hall is being held at the Somerset County Jail in Madison, according to an officer at the Franklin County jail in Farmington.
