DIXFIELD — The Oxford County Democrats are honoring Rep. Sheryl Briggs, D-Mexico, for her years of service at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at the American Legion Hall in Dixfield, according to a news release by county Chairwoman Cathy Newell.
Briggs was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2007, and has served District 93 for six years. Newell said that Briggs is completing her final term this year, due to term limits.
Those interested in attending will able to socialize from 5 to 5:30 p.m. A spaghetti dinner, served by the Legion Auxiliary, will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Newell added that a program “highlighting Representative Briggs’ service” will be presented, with “remarks by friends and fellow legislators.”
Tickets will be $12, or $10 for senior citizens and students, Newell said.
All proceeds from the dinner will benefit the Oxford County Democrats group.
Newell said that Briggs has served on the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee, and has been a “tireless advocate for veterans, as well as in assisting people in her district with constituent matters.”
