WILTON — The Board of Selectmen unanimously confirmed the hiring of a full-time police officer for the Wilton Police Department Tuesday.
Courtney Krause, a reserve officer with the department since 2012, will begin her new duties on June 11, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.
Krause has demonstrated good relations with the public, especially children involved in the Fit Girls, Wilcox said.
Krause is a full-time certified officer and graduate of the police academy, she said. She has been working full time for the Carrabassett Valley Police Department.
Wilton officer Derek Daley recently graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and is now a full-time certified officer, Wilcox said.
Daley finished second in his class of 50 cadets in combined skills, she said in her report to the board. He is back on patrol for the town.
Officer Brian Lynch will attend the academy in August.
During the second quarter of the year, March 1 to June 1, Wilton police officers responded to more than 1,700 calls for service, she told the board. Sixty criminal complaints ended with an arrest or summons.
“There were 432 vehicle stops and of these there were 71 summons issued leading to fines of $10,039 being paid to the State of Maine,” Wilcox stated in her report.
