Dance, karaoke to take place June 14

AUBURN — A “Let’s Dance” dance and karaoke will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at VFW Post 1603 at 588 Minot Ave. Open to the public.

There is no cover charge. There will be live DJ AaronC, ’50s and ’60s music, free finger food, 50/50, door prizes and raffles, including a cooler full of fun.

Attendees are asked to bring a new children’s book to donate to the Danville Church Saturday Library Program, which is held weekly from 10 a.m. to noon at the church on Danville Road.

Masonic bean supper June 14

DURHAM — A bean supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Masonic Lodge, Route 136, across from the River Park.

Cost is $7.50 for adults, $3 for children ages 5-12; free for children under 5. On the menu are baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, coleslaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies.

MINOT — The Minot United Methodist Church, at the corner of Route 121 and Empire Road, will host an old-fashioned country farm breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14.

This is an opportunity to experience what our ancestors ate following their early morning chores. Come and share your memories. Tickets are $6 for adults and children under the age of 6 are free.

Dignified disposal of flags June 14

TURNER — Turner American Legion Post 111 and Turner Boy Scout Troop 187 will conduct a dignified disposal of unserviceable American flags at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14 (Flag Day), at Leavitt Area High School parking lot.

Full military honors will be displayed to include the posting of the flag, a 21-gun salute, the playing of taps and the proper disposal method.

Living with Alzheimer’s for Caregivers

LEWISTON — The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter will present the free workshop Living with Alzheimer’s for Caregivers — Early Stage from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, June 16, at SeniorsPlus, 8 Falcon Road.

The program is designed to provide answers to the questions that may arise for friends and family when someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia. Participants will hear from those directly affected and learn what they can do to cope with the changes that come with an early-stage diagnosis.
