NEW GLOUCESTER — Laura Jane Sturgis won election to the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday, garnering 361 votes to Pamela Slye’s 273.

Sturgis will take office immediately for a three-year term. This was her first effort for public office in New Gloucester.

Slye, a former selectman for one term, serves on various town-appointed committees.

SAD 15’s budget of $23.79 million passed in Gray and New Gloucester by a total of 1,139 to 664. The vote was 354-276 in New Gloucester and 785-388 in Gray.

SAD 15 board member Gary Harriman of New Gloucester was re-elected with 480 votes. His term is for three years.
