PORTLAND (AP) — Former world heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield has received the key to the city in Portland.
Portland Mayor Michael Brennan presented Holyfield with the key during a ceremony Friday afternoon at the Portland Regency Hotel and Spa. Holyfield is in Portland as a guest of the All Star Boxing event scheduled to take place at Portland Expo on Saturday.
In his remarks, Holyfield credited his mom for believing in him and giving him encouragement.
Holyfield was boxing’s undisputed heavyweight champion from 1990 to 1992.
