BALTIMORE — Joshua Charest, the son of John and Louise Charest of Lewiston, graduated from Johns Hopkins University with honors.

Joshua was awarded the “Best Design” for his senior year design project. He designed a device that will assist leg amputees to improve the quality of an active lifestyle. The device has garnered the attention of many people and the university will be sending Joshua and his team to present their new design to the Military Health Conference in Florida this summer. The university is also looking at developing a patent for the device.

Joshua is currently working as a mechanical engineer for the Applied Physics Laboratory and will be returning to Johns Hopkins this fall to complete his masters degree.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Peter Miller, son of William Miller and Elizabeth Miller of South Paris, has enrolled for 2014-15 admission at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Miller is in the electrical engineering – BS program in RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering and is a 2014 graduate of Hebron Academy.

CANTON, N.Y. — Taren L. McGray of Turner was inducted into the St. Lawrence University chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society. A member of the Class of 2016 at St. Lawrence, McGray is majoring in neuroscience. She graduated from Leavitt Area High School.

Omicron Delta Kappa recognizes students who are successful in academics, athletics, community and campus service, the performing arts and journalism.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Kurtis Stocker of Buckfield has made the honor’s list for Franklin & Marshall College’s fall 2013 semester.

CANTON, N.Y. — Carl R. Mayer of Winthrop has been awarded a St. Lawrence University Fellowship for a summer 2014 research project. A member of the Class of 2016 at St. Lawrence, Mayer is majoring in biology. Mayer graduated from Kents Hill School.

Mayer’s University Fellowship project is titled “Regional Nodal Involvements a Proposed Mechanism for the Interaction Between CeNP and ROS in MS, Modeled by EAE.”
