LOVELL — Whenever keyboard artist

presents a concert, expect the unexpected. His appearance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Lovell’s Brick Church for the Performing Arts is going to carry forward Moore’s trademark programming, mingling musical styles – exquisitely performed – with humor and intriguing insights.

“For the first half,” he said, “I’m thinking of doing some of the classical music made famous by Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn for the great Warner Bros. cartoons — music by Von Suppe, Rossini, Wagner, Strauss, etc.”

Cartoons and classics — and there’s more. “After intermission I’d like to feature some of the great musical satirists like Tom Lehrer, Randy Newman, Eric Idle and the like.

Although he specialized in the organ at the Boston Conservatory, Moore loves the unique qualities of different keyboard instruments and styles, and he plays them all. In his youth he played hymns in Sunday school, but also performed in rock bands, high school musicals, and as accompanist to a chorus. Perhaps the most unusual item in his musical resumé: 10 years as a circus musician, touring New England with the Shriners’ circus. “The greatest fun,” he said, “was improvising while the good clowns were doing their shtick.”

The Brick Church for the Performing Arts is on Christian Hill Road. Tickets at the door will be $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. For more information, call 207-925-1500 or visit www.lovellbrickchurch.org.
