- Central Maine Federal Credit Union awards its “Books for Kids” Summer Reading Grant to the Auburn Public Library. The grant is given annually to programs that encourage reading and literacy in children. The library was selected for its “Fizz, Boom, Read!” 2014 summer reading program. The program focuses on everyday science in an effort to tie science into reading. The program will kick off with a visit from Mad Science of Maine and their interactive family science program. Children will be encouraged to read at least 10 books. This grant will enable the library to purchase quality books for the children to select at the end of the program. At the donation, Vicki Stuart, CEO of Central Maine Credit Union, presents a check of $500 to Deb Cleveland, Children’s Services manager of the Auburn Public Library.
