WILTON — The Board of Selectmen will hold two public hearings at their meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the Town Office.
The board will listen to comments on what the public thinks they should do with a tax-acquired property at 509 Depot St. across from the former Forster Manufacturing mill.
The house is owned by a bank in Florida. The former owner has moved from Wilton, Town Manager Rhonda Irish said.
The town acquired the property this spring when $2,501.47 in back taxes was not paid, Irish said. There are also bills owed to the Sewer Department.
Following the hearing, the board will consider whether to accept bids on the property.
The second public hearing involves the Wilton Tannery and community relations. The federal grant for cleanup of the property includes keeping the community informed and listening to them, she said.
An update of the project will be given, including the contractor chosen and the schedule for the cleanup work. A representative of the contractor, E.L. Vining & Son, will also attend the meeting.
The board also will hear an update on the Forster mill property and consider hiring an engineering consultant.
The consultant would tour the mill and make recommendations on whether to consider it a dangerous building in need of demolition or not and if not, how to secure it, she said.
If the town’s case against owner Wilton Recycling LLC owned by Adam Mack, continues on to court, the consultant would be called on to testify about his recommendations, she said.
