FARMINGTON — Republicans residing in the newly apportioned House District 113, which consists of Farmington and New Sharon, will hold a special caucus to select a replacement for the Republican nominee for the Maine House, according to Bill Crandall, chairman of the Farmington Republican Committee, and Scott Nichols, chairman of the New Sharon Republican Committee.

The caucus will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 30, at the Farmington Community Building.

In a letter to Maine’s secretary of state, Rep. Lance Harvell withdrew as the Republican nominee for House District 113. Harvell had won the nomination in an uncontested primary on June 10. He was first elected in 2010 and had served two terms.

“According to Maine Republican State Party rules, all enrolled Republicans residing in District 113 are eligible to participate and vote in the special caucus,” Crandall said.

“This is one of the most important obligations of our municipal committee as defined by state law,” Nichols said. “I urge all Republicans in District 113 to participate in the special caucus.”
